Description
North Quarry has face climbing on typical Horsetooth sandstone which tends to be sandier than usual. A few highballs and some roped climbing are the main venue for this picturesque, seldom visited area.
Per Beau E.: there are several good problems as well as a few projects. There is a nice cliff band of rock that has has not been developed. Past this is the Black Joe Boulder.
Eds. Please note that the quarry is not open to bolted development. So, development must be with removeable protection. Horsetooth Mountain Parks is currently considering a climbing management plan put forth by NCCC.

Getting There
North Quarry is located in Satanka Cove at the northwestern end of the reservoir. It is in Horsetooth proper and not part of Lory State Park; however, the quickest access is to park in Lory State Park (FYI, be sure to pay the vehicle fee or you will be ticketed) right where the road forks left for the visitor's center. The Satanka Cove trail travels east and slighty down to near waters edge depending on the season. Skirt the north side of the cove for a hundred feet or so until the quarry walls pop into view on your left - that is on the north side of the cove.
It is 15 minutes or so from car to quarry.
