Hurd State Park closes the entrance gate every year on the first day of snowfall and does not usually open again until the spring when all the snow has melted. There are no tentative dates as to closure of the entrance gate and re-opening.
However, there is a small parking area near the entrance gate just off the road where you can park year round, but you will have to hike in to the climbing areas inside the park.

Description
This area is somewhat secluded, but can be viewed from the road going through the park. The rock quality is a mixture of quartz and other rock types. This area is up on a hill, so it gets plenty of sun when it's out.
Getting There
From the yellow gate half way down the road inside Hurd Park (you can park near the gate as long as you don't block it), walk across the road and up the hill and you will see a long stretch of boulders. These are the Big Bang Boulders, with the exception of the highball looking boulders that are further to the left if you're looking up the hill from the road. Those boulders are the Valhalla Boulders.
