Description

Gold Dust Peak lies in the eastern Holy Cross Wilderness and is best accessed from the Fulford Cave Trailhead.

Gold Dust Peak is famous for a peculiar plane crash incident and a number of missing bombs.

Popular routes include:
From Pika at Class 4.
From Finnegan at 5.6 or Class 4 using major West side bypasses.
West Slopes at Class 2 talus.

Getting There

An in-shape average hiker might be able to reach the summit in about 3 hours from Fulford and via the West Slopes.

If traversing from Pika, start at Fulford. If traversing from Finnegan, set a car shuttle or swing around to the New York Mountain ridge with a good forecast from the Polar Star hut (4WD). The shuttle is a bit long and complicated.
