Getting weather forecast...
DescriptionSouth to west facing bluff with various gullies overlooking California, PA. Ice climbs varying between 10 and 15 feet. Tallest climbs are around 30 feet, but are really two small climbs stacked on each other. Easiest way to get there is to walk down the railroad tracks or rappel down from the top of the bluffs.
Private Property Details
Although I've never had any conflict with the property owners, I've been pretty much the only person who has explored these steep hillsides and gullies recently.
Getting ThereFrom Route 51, turn onto Route 201 towards Fayette City. Follow for approximately two miles to Clark Rd. Turn left onto Clark Rd, then follow it until it comes to a T. At the T, turn left. Take Central School Rd all the way through its intersection with Brownsville Rd. Go straight at the intersection, then follow the road for about a mile and a half. From there, turn left onto Newell Shortcut Rd. Newell Shortcut Rd follows the top of the bluff for it's whole length, and has four separate gullies with multiple waterfalls that usually freeze pretty solidly during the winter.
