b. The Swath

New York > Powerlinez
Warning Access Issue: As of November 2021, there are new parking arrangements. Please follow this guidance. DetailsDrop down

Description

Closest area to the trailhead. The "swath" is the zone where all the trees were cleared out to make way for the electric power line.

The Top-Rope crags are out in the open, along with some bouldering rocks. Some more bouldering rocks in the lower trees.

Climbers love it for the sunshine. So do the pricker / thorn bushes.

Getting There

From the main trailhead hike N gentle uphill on the dirt road about 1000 feet to a junction with another dirt road. Turn sharp Left and go WSW about 500 feet to a fork in the road. The Swath rocks are above and right from the right fork road (which is the Boulder Road). To find your problems, either head right uphill directly from the fork intersection, or first hike up steep on the right fork dirt road and soon exit right off that.
