Access Issue: The railroad tracks proper are private property - No Trespassing Details

If you can't stay off the railroad tracks, you do not belong here. Do not approach on the railroad tracks - use the "New Beta" on the Area page. The railroad company will call the local sheriff's department with trespassing complaints. In 2019-20, the sheriff has been called at least 3 times.

Description

Along the railroad tracks, on the hillside facing the Mississippi River, are a few creases and small cliffs where water flows in the summer.

This can be a breezy, noisy place to climb, but the Main Route and its satellite icicles are reasonably tall, steep, and reliable.

Getting There

If you can't stay off the tracks, you don't belong here!

"New" approach beta (for the last 20 years):

Several approaches exist from above, but they are sketchy without traction - you will be on a steep, icy slope above cliffs - put on your crampons! Park on County Highway X and walk up and over. To get to the Main Flow without hiking along the tracks you, you have to find the top of the Flow and rap in - look for surveyors tape, and a fixed anchor on a large tree.

Walking north along the RR tracks from the parking spot along County X, the Main Route is the first ice you will come to. Further along the tracks, beyond the first noticeable bend, other lesser flows are in some of the creases found in the slope up and to the east.
