Description Suggest change

Tucked away in the Frederick Watershed is a small outcrop of rocks with a few fun routes. The area is very secluded, but there is the typical evidence of people who like to party and trash the woods (ie: garbage, graffiti, camp fires, broken glass, etc.) though not nearly as dirty as Ilchester gets. The area is mostly top rope, but a few routes could be trad lead. The base of the cliff is pretty flat and open with plenty of room to lay out your gear and get comfy.

Most of the route descriptions and additional information can be found in Mark "Indy" Kochte's guide book, "Climb Maryland!" (now out-of-print).

Many paces to set anchors for TR on Left Fork. No additional routes listed, but open our eyes. look around you'll be surprised.

Getting There Suggest change

From I-70 in Frederick, take route 15 north for about 9 miles, then get off on Hansonville Rd and shorlty after get on Mountaindale Rd. There are 2 exits onto Hansonville rd, you're going to want the second one. Follow Mountaindale Rd until it ends in a T intersection and make a left. Stay on Mountaindale Rd and after a few minutes the pavement will end and it will become a dirt road (with some decent pot holes at the beginning, beware!). Follow the dirt road, and eventually it will fork.
Stay right at the fork for Right Fork Rocks. After about a mile, you'll see a small parking spot before a sharp left turn. Park here, and look across the stream behind the spot and you'll see the rock about 100 feet away.

If you stay left at the fork instead of right, it will take you to Left Fork Rocks, a prominent outcrop on the right side some distance down the road.
