The Joint

Arizona > Central Arizona > Stewart Pocket

Description

This area has a good group of 40-50ft routes that can keep you entertained for the better part of a day. All of the routes have anchors at the top or you can walk off the West side. Most routes can be top roped with a little work. It is sunny in the morning and shady after noon.

Getting There

It’s a little strange finding this area your first time. You can get to it from either the East or West parking areas by taking the Boulders North trail for about 1.5 miles. It’s roughly the same distance from either one of the parking areas to the crag trail. Watch for a stack of rocks and logs marking the trail to the crag on the south side of the Boulders North trail. Once you have found the rocks follow this crag trail to the east wall of the Joint.

Routes from Left to Right

Follow the road, down to the wash, easy trail, then turn left after about 20-25 minutes at a very obvious climber trail. Follow it up

This is the start of the climber's trail off of the main boulders loop trail, looking south. The small rock stack and branch "trail" is what to look for. Route is pretty well defined - tends toward the right.

[Hide Comment] I got to give Clay and Crew 4 stars on this spot. And although it's not very large, you guys did a great job of setting it up with a little shady gathering spot. Generally good rock quality, even at the top of the sport routes. Nov 26, 2017

[Hide Comment] I really enjoyed this area, the entire pocket was blanketed in snow and this crag was dry except a few routes. As stated there are quality sport routes and the even a few crack line that will leave you grinning! Great effort, and eye by the development team! Feb 1, 2021
