Getting There Suggest change

Several access points are possible. Use Google map to find Elk City Lake, Ks. Your reference points will be county road 5000 which is north of the lake and another parking area on top of the dam. Just north of the dam there is an intersection at county road 5000. Turn west. After traveling west 2 miles on county road 5000 there is a dirt road on the south side of the road. This road will take you directly to a primitive campsite and parking area. This road is 1 mile long. .5 miles in you it require 4wd and a high clearance vehicle to make it through. From here you can gain access to the shoreline by walking approximately 400-500 feet from the campsite area. You will cross the hiking trail to get to the boulders.

The second access point is on the east end of the dam. Parking in a pullout on the dam appears to be an option.
