Description
The Thirsty Dogs area lays off by itself at the base of a prominent point 1.5 miles down the road from the Roadsides. It has some superb blocks and is worth the short hike. Remember that this is a No Off road Travel Zone, so you must walk in from the road.
Getting There
Just past the Wiregrass Canyon trailhead, at a major bend in the road, park in the wash off the side of the road, south of a very prominent buttress. Walk up the wash for 500 yards to a bend; break up and right out of the wash if you want to get to the Uranus area. To get to the Busted Chitty and Northeast Crack Boulders, veer north easterly out of the wash in the soft shale past the busted rusted Celica and to the very prominent Thirsty Dog Boulder that stands proudly on its own. The hike is less than 10 minutes.
