Description

Scattered boulders and short walls between the eastern ramparts and Sandstone areas. A number of boulders are hidden in the areas around Bird Foot Buttress and surrounding crags.

A couple of the ones I listed are at a crag called "West Post" in the Swartling guidebook as a reference point.

Getting There

You can follow the directions in the Knower guidebook for Bird Foot Buttress and go from there. There are 2 other options. One is go up the CCC trail to the top and instead of heading back left to the top of the climbs go east (right) into the woods on a small social trail that eventually heads back downhill (south). The rocks will be off to your left. Alternately, park at the CCC trail and walk 100-200 yards back east on the road until you come to a culvert going under the road with a sign on either side of the road. Head left up the drainage and you will come to this area and the boulders. This is the quickest way but best in the spring and fall when the leaves are down so you can see where you are going.

I see. It was pretty entertaining to listen to the groups as they came down. It was even more entertaining to tell them that they went the wrong way and would have to hike back to the top of the bluff! May 15, 2017

Yes. Where the CCC gets to the top of the bluff and goes back west, the social trail continues east/southeast and ultimately goes right by bruised and confused. That's how we originally found the area anyway, while looking for American Dream Roof. May 15, 2017
Strangely enough, people have been wandering down the drainage gully from the top of the east bluff trail. Today, when I was at bruised and confused and flesh rodeo, 5 separate groups came down lost. Most were looking for the uplands trail. I wonder if there is a social trail at the top of the bluff leading people in the wrong direction? May 14, 2017
