Description

Situated in the shadow of El Misti, an active volcano, Arequipa is the second largest city in Peru. Due to its desert climate, the city receives 300 days of sunshine a year, and temps range from 77 degrees F to 41 degrees F year round. Similar to Cusco, Arequipa is one of the adventure capitals of Peru and is a launching off point for many mountaineering treks (see summitpost.org/volcanoes-of…)

There is some climbing to be found in the city as well, mostly sport and bouldering.
