While the areas around Antalya have gotten the most press recently due to their being featured on the Petzl Roc Trip, there's plenty more climbing in Turkey, and not that far from Antalya.

Aladaglar National Park was established in 1995 and spans 136,000 acres, a size you won't find in Europe. There's a huge amount of rock, only a tiny bit of which has been developed. Whether you want single pitch, multpitch, sport or trad, it's all there.

The main semi-developed areas are:
  • Kazikli Canyon
  • Cimbar Vadisi
  • Kocakayalar Boulders

The park's website (in Turkish) is here:
milliparklar.gov.tr/mp/alad…

An English language guidebook does exist, published in 2014 called "Aladaglar Rock Climbing Guidebook" which is available here:

Getting There Suggest change

Alaadaglar sits almost exactly in the middle of two big cities: Kayseri and Adana both about a 150km, 2 hour bus ride from the entrance to the park.

Adana is very well connected to Europe by flights due to being a major hub for beach tourism. In fact, it well worth looking for a package tour that includes flights and hotels to Adana, even if you don't use the hotel much or at all, as it can be cheaper than getting there alone.

Where to stay

Suggest change

There are a number of places to stay just outside of the park. (5 minute drive to climbing)

Aladağlar Mountain Hostel is without a doubt our favorite climbing base camp in the area. Camping in the spacious orchard / garden provides a quiet and cozy nest with unlimited opportunities for snacking on apples, peaches, plums, tangerines, apricots, blackberries,..... fill your lunch bag!  The facilities were immaculately clean and our hosts were extremely friendly.  Two dorms and a single room were also available for a more luxurious experience. Dani and I both enjoyed a wonderfull 3 week stay.

Another option would be,

aladaglarcamping.com/

It is run by two climbers who actually wrote the guidebook on the area and offer guiding services making it the ideal location. Both bungalows and tent camping are available.
