Access Issue: Winter Closures
Details
Hurd State Park closes the entrance gate every year on the first day of snowfall and does not usually open again until the spring when all the snow has melted. There are no tentative dates as to closure of the entrance gate and re-opening.
However, there is a small parking area near the entrance gate just off the road where you can park year round, but you will have to hike in to the climbing areas inside the park.

Well secluded area off the main road inside the park:
Getting There
Drive down the main road inside the park until you reach a yellow gate. Park on the side of the road on the grass, but not in front of the gate. Walk down the paved road until you reach the wire rails and then walk up the hill to the right of them. You should see a ton of decent boulders up above. This area is Valhalla.
