DescriptionThis southwest facing rock exposure, located northwest of the Providence Access parking lot, is traditionally known as the Battress Crack area but has also been called McGee Land. Shad tree provide afternoon shelter but climbing in the morning will help you avoid the summer heat. Remember, this crag, like most of the other cliffs along the Katy Trail, is on private property. I've discussed the climbing with the property owner and developer.
Climbing is allowed for now, but could change with each individual lot sold. Please continue to be respectful of the owners and our current access to climb.
Private Property Details
This is private land and the company that owns it has not been contacted about climbing here. Tread lightly and respectfully.
Getting ThereFrom the Providence Access parking lot head North on the Katy Trail for .75 miles. Shortly after an orange sign comes into view, follow a short, uphill path to access the base of the bluff from its southern end. Accessing the bluff from here should help to prevent the erosion problems common to these areas. Walk along the base of the bluff for a few hundred yards before coming to the Battress Wall.
