Description
A series of ice climbs along the coast between Deadmans bay and Blackhead. These climbs can be viewed from across the bay, atop of Signal Hill, with a pair of binoculars. You can do this to see if they have formed (if you don't want to walk in and find that they are not yet ready). To view "The Reaper" from Signal Hill you may have walk further towards Cuckolds Cove in order to see right in there.**Note Be careful on days with high seas as large waves can reach the base of these climbs and even knock them down.
Getting There
Climbs are accessed by parking in Blackhead and hiking along the East Coast Trail. "The Reaper" and "Mutiny" are located directly on the beach in Deadmans Bay (an offshoot trail from the main trail takes you right down to the beach) where as the other climbs are scattered along the main trail. Minor bushwacking from the main trail is involved to reach the other climbs. Check out the topo to see the rough locations of each climb.
