Description
The Boondocks area includes the boulders between Pool of Plenty to the north and Pink Floyd to the south, and the canyon wall to the west and dirt track to the east. A continuation of the foot path that accesses the Pink Floyd area runs north/south through the center of the area. Much like the rest of Blue Moon, the Boondocks has an abundance of rock that is generally very good in quality. The area is shaded by late afternoon, making it a good option during the warmer months.
Getting There
The Boondocks is best accessed from the Mecca parking area by the green gate. From the green gate, follow the foot path across East Creek, connect with the dirt track, follow it north for about 10 minutes and the area will be visible after the wash that defines the north boundary of Pink Floyd. It's best to pass to the wash however, and continue past it until a foot path becomes visible to the west. This will then lead you back through the area in a southwesterly direction.
