Description Suggest change

Sorrow's End is a short cliff face in the Terrance bay area. It is the main cliff on the Halifax side of the harbor, and can see the odd busy day on weekends, but generally climbing here is much like anywhere else in NS - quiet. This cliff is well loved for both it's exposure to wind which helps with the bugs, and it's proximity to a lake. During the summer sun hit's the wall around noon and the best escape from the heat is to turn and walk 100 ft to the water!

The cliff was initially discovered by Nick Sagar. It has seen a lot of development over the years since. Most of the routes are recorded in the local guide book "Nova Scotia Rock", and it's 2010 digital update; however new routes are still being bolted.

Getting There Suggest change

Leave the Armdale Rotary and drive 6 km or so up St Margarets Bay Rd. Take a left onto Prospect Drive and drive for 15 km to take a left onto Terrance Bay Rd. Look for an Orange East Coast Outfitters sign on the left right at the turn. Drive 6 km to make a right turn onto Nice View Dr. Look for two speed limit signs one after another. Nice View Drive is a dirt road in between them with a stone wall. Drive to the end and park. Parking at 44.4826820, -63.7339925. For the approach, follow the trail until a small dirt track juts off to the right towards the cliff. Please be careful not to block local traffic. This is a Private Road and climbers have access at the discretion of the locals so be respectful!
