Description

The Boston Hollow Boulder Field is located in a beautiful little valley that stays cool during the summer and is somewhat protected. Most of the quality problems listed here are located on "Prudential Tower", a tall rectangular glacial erratic boulder that is set back about 100 yards from the road. There are also a number of smaller boulders and bedrock outcroppings that may have good problems and are worth exploring.

For those interested in the history (both geologic and anthropogenic), the wikipedia page for Boston Hollow is surprisingly detailed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Hollow

Getting There

The easiest way to get here is simply to park at the parking area for the Nipmuck Trail, and walk south along the road until you see the obvious boulder field on your right, about 1 mile. You will have to cross a small stream/wetland area which has some of poison ivy and can be really muddy if it has rained recently. The boulder itself is up on dry ground.

There are some pullouts along Boston Hollow Road that might be closer, but make sure your vehicle isn't sticking out into the road.
