Description

Bath Creek is a rarely visited area due to the longer approach. It is has a beautiful alpine setting, which is home to multiple ice climbs. Only venture here when the avalanche conditions are fair, as the slopes to the climbs are wide open and south facing. The area is well worth the effort as multiple routes can be climbed the same day and the routes are good quality.

Getting There

Park on the north side of the Trans Canada Hwy in a pullout approx. 10km past Lake Louise. From here hop the fence and gain the creek bed heading north. If conditions permit, the easiest travel is to head straight up the open creek. If conditions in the creek bed aren't good then you can find a trail in the trees on the east side of the creek. At about 7km in the open creek constricts and travel becomes more difficult, here gain the trees on the left (west) side of the drainage and climb a steep slope that brings you to the basin and the climbs. Approx 4hrs for the approach, snowshoes help.
