Getting weather forecast...
DescriptionThe area is quite exposed to winds from all directions, but normally winds from the west and southwest carry the least desirable weather with low cloud bases and rain. Winds from the east are drier and normally hotter. The trail is frequently travelled by locals and easy to spot, but do not expect a lot of people on the way to the top.
Private toll road (optional) Details
The local farmer takes a 20 NOK toll fee to drive up to the starting point of the trail. This is not neccessary, it is fully possible to park further down and walk 10 minutes to the start of the trail,.
Getting ThereThe trail up to Hamarøyskaftet starts at the farm at Halsen. A dirt road leads NW to a small parking lot with a sign pointing to Hamarøykaftet. From there, follow the dirt trail through the woods up to the ridgeline. The trail leads you directly to the easiest route up the mountain on the W-NW side.
