Description

Colors Crag is another overlooked cliff right at the start of the Narrows. Originally it was developed in the Spring of 2010, it has recently been revisited and brought back to life.

Generally a shady crag after early morning, this crag has good conditions most of the year. In the middle of winter, it is too cold. In the middle of summer, it is too hot, but otherwise good conditions can be found, and there is no river crossing.

The rock quality is generally good, but more traffic is needed to get the routes in really prime condition.

Getting There

From Ted's Place, drive 18.1 miles up the Poudre Canyon until you reach the Electric Ocean/Widowmakers followed immediately by a bridge. Park in the massive pullout on the right just past the bridge. Walk uphill to a saddle before dropping down and right to the base of the cliff (10-15 minutes).

The approach is steep and loose, not super long though, maybe 15 minutes. The base is steep and hard to find belay stances. We had to place a cam in a crack near the base just to hook our bags to so they wouldn't run away from us. Cool rock to climb on but still very dirty. Jan 7, 2018
So did you just happen to miss all of the flat spots to put your bags before the slabs? Apr 28, 2018
