Description

Numerous crags lining the southwest side of Stoddard Ridge (AKA Sawtooth Ridge) make up the New Bob City area. Since the FA's in 2003/4, it appears that someone now owns the land that New Bob City lies in.
All areas of New Bob City are on private property. Details

Getting There

From NJC:
Take the 247 south and make a right on to Lucerne Valley Road (Cutoff). After 2.3 miles, turn right onto Jayjay Road. After .6 miles veer left onto Meander Rd. Continue north toward the ridge until the road dead ends. Make a left (going right would take you to the pipeline road going over the ridge to New Jack, impassible by vehicle) and continue for .5 mile and make your first right. You will be greeted by a crazy sign and markings that say "private road". New Bob City lies on the ridge at the end of this road.

Updated all crag locations after clearing up a misunderstanding of the area. It looks like most of the western crags are in private property now. I was down there and took a few pictures and definitely spotted most of the crags.
There are three trailers camped at the end of the main approach road. It appeared to be somewhat abandoned. No one came out and yelled at us for going down the "private road" and there were no cars. The strange biblical signs leading down the road look pretty new. It may be some kind of retreat area. The main sign has "MontaƱa de Adoracion, El Sinai" on it with some interesting graphics. Phone number: 909-587-8250. Whoever is there, whenever they might be there, sound a little off their rocker.

I do have info on the property owner if anyone has experience with contacting owners in regards to climbing access. Jan 17, 2017

Everything is based on rough estimates. Sorry about the somewhat wasted trip. I haven't had a chance to go out there and explore for myself. Just put up the info from Pat. Dec 13, 2016

Went in search of a few walls in New Bob City using the GPS pinpoints, provided on this site, and never found one route. Although we had a great day of hiking and scrambling, while we searched. Anyone have any better beta, photos or pinpoint/direction, on how to get here? We wanted to start with Slash X, then work our way to other walls. Dec 13, 2016

Pat Brennan, Bob Cable, et al, got around to it in '01-'03. Just wasn't published anywhere until recently. Nov 14, 2016

This is area is also known as "The House of the Setting Sun" or "Ammo Dump" depending on who you ask. I bouldered here a lot when living in Barstow... I remember thinking that it would be cool to bolt some lines there. Glad somebody got around to it. I have posted information under the High Desert Bouldering section if anyone is interested in checking out some quality problems. Nov 14, 2016
