Description

Just off the highway right past the visitors center of Mount Rushmore boosts some good bouldering. In fact enough to spend a morning or afternoon. Lots of highball problems exist. The stone in the drainage proper is high quality and some of the best "looking" boulders in the area some can't be climbed due to no holds. Most problems are in the mid range for grades with a couple of harder problems. Almost every problem down here equates to 2-3 stars. Look for the pull off on the side of the road and make sure you pull off all the way so as to not stick out on the highway. Being close to the monument make sure to adhere to all climbing laws and LNT ethics. This is directly below the employee parking for Rushmore.

Getting There

Drive about 1/4 mile past the monument you will take a sharp curve west (left) and then hit a straight away. Look for the pull offs before the road curves north ( right)
