Bighorn Buttress

Description

Bighorn Buttress is the dome shaped crag high on the ridge of TLTTF. Some excellent routes with great views of New Jack City. The longer approach is greatly rewarded.
East facing and shady in the afternoon.

Getting There

From the kiosk, follow the trail past Bedrock Wall as it hugs the formation on your left. Follow the trail as it opens up to the upper valley. Look for the cairn that starts the zig-zagging trail that goes up to Bighorn Buttress.

[Hide Comment] There is a dead rattlesnake in the most interesting place here.. Looks like he got halfway a crack just right of Catalina. Perhaps he got stuck and gave up... so sad. Hard as a rock in may 2016 May 29, 2016

[Hide Comment] David Aldama, it’s a newish 5.11c. Crux between second and third bolt. Tough little boulder problem. The route above climbs at hard 10 easy 11. It’s really fun but feels pretty scary at the third bolt because of potential rough catch/ground fall Oct 25, 2020
