Description

Zhejiang Province is located on the south of Shanghai. Its most famous climbing spots can be found around Hangzhou, and further south near Xianju.

Linan:
Linan is the most famous and developped climbing area near Shanghai, with a hundred routes opened. This granit rock offers a lot of different type of climbing, from crimpy slab to cheminey or crack climbing. It has been discovered and mostly bolted by Joe Langwald over the past few years.

Xianju:
Located 80 kilometers west of Taizhou, this small limestone crag offers around 35 routes from 5.7 to 5.12b. Two multi pitches routes have also been opened further in the country.

Getting There

You can first get to the biggest city near the crags by high speed train from Shanghai, and then manage to find a bus/taxi that can get you closer. However, most of the climbing places are remoted and not really touristic. The best option is therefore to directly join another climbing group and rent a minivan all together from Shanghai. It will usually cost you a few hundred RMB per person for a round trip on the weekend. The climbing community in Hengyi Climbing Gym or Shanghai Indoor Stadium can usually advice you how to organize your trip.
