Description
Savanadurga is a 1200 ft tall monolithic granite hill (some claim it is the largest monolithic rock in Asia), with remnants of a 400 year old fort built on it. As of 2015, the rock contains over a dozen established routes, most about 6 - 8 pitches long, ranging in difficulty from 5.5 friction slab to 5.11+. Most of the routes are on south or south-east facing aspects of the hill, and can get pretty hot except in the cooler Winter months (Dec-Feb). From the top of the hill, you walk off to the right along a pilgrim's path. Give yourself at least a half-hour for the descent.
