Description Suggest change

The Savandurga area, a little over an hour west of Bangalore, boasts a wide variety of climbs from 1 to 8 pitches in length, from splitter cracks to bolted lines, and from a mellow 5.5 to an as yet unrepeated 5.11X. The longer bolted climbs are on the main hill, with a smaller number of quality trad lines on the shorter Banyan Tree Pillar.

As of December 2019, the Forestry Department was actively kicking climbers off this cliff. In other areas around Ramanagara on forest land, they have seized climbers' gear. If you choose to try and climb here, you should probably start very early in the morning and  keep a low profile.

Getting There Suggest change

See map for location. From Bangalore, the Magadi highway gets you most of the way. The last few minutes of driving, after getting off the highway are best attempted with a high-clearance vehicle. Pass the first temple and park near the second temple.
