Access Issue: Peregrine falcon nesting Details

Closed March through August for peregrine falcon nesting.

Description

A large, vegetated and loose cliff overlooking Somes Sound. Peregrine falcons have been nesting on this cliff in recent years, and it has routinely been closed from March through August.

Getting There

Follow Route 102 south past Echo Lake toward Southwest Harbor, then Causeway Road past the golf course to a parking lot on the left just before it dead-ends. Follow a gated fire road north to the shore of Somes Sound, then a blue-blazed trail through the talus to the base of the cliff.
