Panola Mountain

Georgia
Warning Access Issue: Check in with the rangers at the nature center every time you go bouldering. DO NOT GO ON THE ACTUAL MOUNTAIN DetailsDrop down

Description

Medium sized granite bouldering field. The rock is much easier on the hands than Boat Rock, but only a small portion of the boulders on/near Panola are open for climbing. If more bouldering is eventually opened up, there will be significantly more bouldering on the nearby trails than at Boat Rock. A good combination of slabby climbs, overhung routes, and a little bit of crack climbing.

Please submit route information if you have it! I haven't been able to find any FAs or route names, but I know that people have been sending climbs in this area for a couple of years now.

Getting There

Talk to the rangers at the nature center (address is 2600 Highway 155, SW, Stockbridge, GA 30281) for directions. They are very explicit about wanting you to visit them before doing any bouldering or visiting the bouldering area! There's also a $5.00 Parking Fee.

The Leaning arete V4-6 just to the left of the popular ninja stab is a classic arete line with a heady top out. This is a good one!

I'm sure this line has been climbed but I don't see it named. Until someone steps forward I'll call it A Brave Line and this is The stand start position.

Interesting V3 to V5 traverse with really good holds and a reachy top out.

A great line that you see on the second prominent boulder with a very challenging and heady top out! V 7-9 perhaps? Be sure to bring extra pads on this one!

This is the very first Boulder that you see when you walk up. Don't miss this great line! Maybe a V3-4 with an awesome start. You fall over into a dynamic right crimp. A great way to start a problem for sure.

[Hide Comment] We started climbing here close to 12 years ago. Pretty much all of these "first ascents" were claimed long ago. If it hasn't been climbed it is most likely at least V8/9 or harder. Some of middle Georgias strongest climbers have done picked through this place. Mar 30, 2019
[Hide Comment] If you have information about the FA’s, who established them, name of the problems, grades, please please message the person who took the time to submit the information to mointainproject instead of being passive aggressive “pretty much all these first accents”. More then likely the so called FA’s people climbed 12 years ago where repeats of the climbers before them. The only way to know the history of an area is to start documenting. If someone wants credit for the FA’s I’ve documented I’m more then happy to change what I’ve added to this page. Apr 1, 2019
