Description

This is a large and very popular parcel of land owned by the Trustees of Reservation. In addition to the well-known Ravenswood Boulder, other smaller erratics and walls dot this forest. While the concentration of boulders isn't as high as nearby Dykes Pond area, Calvary/Mount Jacob, or even Dogtown, there are still boulders here and probably many left to be found.

Unlike the other nearby areas, you will be sharing paths with many hikers and dogwalkers. This must be one of the more popular of the Trustee properties around, so climbers should be on their best behavior and not jeopardize access.

Included in this area is the city owned woods surrounding Wallace Pond, Fernwood Lake and Upper Banjo Pond. While not technically part of the Ravenswood Park, they are contiguous with it, and their paths overlap.

Getting There

Access varies depends on where you want to go. There is limited access along Route 133, Magnolia Ave., and Old Salem End Rd. The park itself has a main entrance with a visitor center.
