Description

Great roadside crag with easy approach with short top rope, bolted sport, and trad climbs. A handful of routes with multiple variations ranging from 5.8 - 5.11b with a large amount of bouldering and new route development potential. The rock is Granite and consists of mostly sharp edge climbing with a few cracks to jam fingers and hands into. Climbs range from 25 to 50 feet tall. Great place to take the family.

Getting There

Drive south from Butte on MT-2 (Old Highway 10) towards Whitehall. Crag is located on north side of the highway approx. 1/2 mile east of mm 70. Watch for gravel pullout at the base of the rock formation.

Does anyone know about the access/ownership of this crag? Was climbing there yesterday and a Jefferson County sheriff stopped by to tell us we were trespassing and we couldn't climb here without permission. The main face seems to be within the State highway right of way, but there does appear to be an old fence just before the base of the upper rock (The Far Side, etc,). The Cadastral is poorly drawn here but it does appear to be owned by a couple in Whitehall since 2014. Who bolted these routes, and can anyone get me in touch with the landowner to ask permission?
