Description
Boulders within hiking distance of the Bolton Notch road. Please be advised this area isn't fully accessible. Climbers need to keep our impact low because the boulders in this area are all on or near private property and residences. Please be respectful of the locals by keeping noises down and always having a plan B climbing plan if there are already several cars parked there already when you arrive. If we overcrowd this area we will lose access, try climbing on public land or consider going more backwoods if you want to climb with a group and you anticipate getting noisy.
There is also no designated parking area so make sure to find a pull-off where you can get your car fully off the road.
*As a result of the July 2023 and 2024 flooding the road needs a lot of work to be better prepared for future flooding, and many of the pull-offs that existed in past years are not there anymore. The town is working on fixing the road but parking for recreation is a lower priority than fortifying the road for folks who live there. If you climb here avoid busy climbing times, always carpool and expect to park and walk further than you used to. The pull-offs near the Halloween area and Ships Prow area have been less impacted by the flooding because of the local topography and there is a small trail that parallels the road you can take to the other boulders.
Getting There - NEW IN 2023
As of Spring of 2025 work has been done to the ditches on the side of Bolton Notch Road eliminating a lot of the parking for bouldering. If you plan to park anywhere on Bolton Notch Road, make sure your car is entirely off the road. CRAG-VT is working with the town and private landowners to create more parking, but for now we have to use what is there. If your car is in the travelled portion of the road, it will be towed and also further threatens our ability to work with the town and local landowners. Please help future generations of climbers and be diligent about car placement and if you can climb in other areas with better parking during busy climbing weekends please do so that we can minimize our impact on this beautiful area.
