Tatum Falls
California
> Sierra Eastside
> June Lake Area
Description
Tatum Falls is a fun little flow that comes in around the same time as Horsetail Falls. The climbing is characterized by short pillars and low angle ice. This area gets a lot more sun than the rest of the ice in June Lake and should not be climbed at if it is too warm.
Getting There
At the end of the June Lake loop, where the winter closure starts, park near the power plant there. Hike through the power plant parking lot and find the tramline that climbs up towards the falls. Follow this until near the falls and then traverse over where practicable. In a low snow year, another viable option is to take the Agnew Lake trail from the Silver Lake trailhead up to the level of the falls and then traverse over.
