Description Suggest change

Neptune Tower is a 1,000' wall of spectacular golden granite, guarded by a brutal 3+ hour uphill slog which gains over 3,000' in elevation. Neptune could be considered the leftmost and highest of the towers in the Mayfield Canyon "Pink Band", but is accessed from a different approach.

Getting There Suggest change

Park as for the Rabbit Ears. Hike north past the Smokestack gully and ascend the rough Wells Canyon drainage. When you reach the base of the Direct North Ridge on Wells Peak, you've made it halfway. Continue up a narrow gully and through a saddle to get your first view of the tower. More steep sand, loose talus and bushwhacking ensues.
