Getting weather forecast...
DescriptionAs this is in a canyon, it receives sun in the morning and then later in the afternoon is shaded and can get pretty cold (wind funneling, etc.)
Same rock as the rest of Paint Mountain: granite
Getting ThereSeveral options of getting here. From the road to Haines Junction, you can see the canyon. It is just right of the giant morraine, and left of Swiss Wall.
You can access the canyon from Swiss Wall, by heading down and following along the bottom of the wall. Otherwise, you can take the path-of-least-resistance starting from the trail at the bottom.
It is literally a canyon, with some impressive, and as of yet unclimbed routes on the face of the mountain. The routes that are set-up are on the canyon wall (hiker's right)
