Description Suggest change

A small outcropping of short cliffs/boulders around the backside of the dome from the Picnic Rock Area. Rock and route quality is not as good as the Picnic Rock area, but these boulders could be a great place to warm up, or bring climbers who can't climb the harder problems that the main area lends itself to. The boulders are approximately between 8 and 14 feet high, and follow a cliff band à la Devils Lake bouldering.

This area currently needs significant development. It may contain 20 or so lines on the easier end of the v-scale (VB-V3). A handful might be 3 star quality, but most are probably 1 or two stars. The rock is different from the main area and there is a fair amount of flakey choss in spots, but it seems like there is decent rock underneath if you are willing to do some cleaning.

Getting There Suggest change

About an 8 minute hike From the Warm Up Slab in the Picnic Rock area, follow the Superior Hiking Spur Trail South until it joins with the Main part of the Superior Hiking Trail that goes over the dome. Turn right to continue south and follow the main trail for approximately 50 yards downhill. On your left you will see a small carin. This is a good place to enter the woods were there is a very hard to follow trail to the boulders. It might be best to use GPS (Google maps will suffice if you have cell service). Coordinates are 47.400744N 91.162283W
