Description

This is one of the best climbing areas in Medellín. It is all granite and the views are spectacular. The various crags here all overlook waterfalls and the city of Medellín. The majority of the climbing is sport but there are single pitch trad routes as well. There is also great canyoning and parapente (paragliding) here. Note, the climbing and canyoning is all located on private property so you must check in at Aventura Psiconautica before climbing here; they are largely to thank for securing climber access to this area, they speak perfect english and can help you with current details for whatever your adventure may be. Please do what you can to help the locals' efforts in this area and do not mess anything up here. Numerous crags in this area are under active responsible development and new routes are going up all the time. There is a lot of potential here and definitely opportunity to open new routes / put up first ascents but you must work with locals if you wish to help/join that effort (again, just talk to Aventura Psiconautica, they will tell you what's going on not just in this area but all over the Colombian climbing scene - aventurapsiconautica.com/). Donating some bolts and hangers would be a nice gesture and certainly tremendously appreciated by the local climbers.. climbing hardware is all imported and therefor very expensive in Colombia.

Getting There

Take a 45min bus ride from terminal norte in Medellín. The buses go all the time. Note, the approach for some of the crags is relatively technical; fixed lines are in place for some and you must rappel into others.

[Hide Comment] Really pretty area. Unfortunately the climbing wasn't accessible without paying 80,000 Colombian to enter. The guiding service wasn't open; we called and were at their office from 11:30-1:00 pm so we weren't able to even make it to the climbing. I would skip this crag unless you are able to get information from someone who has actually climbed here. Mar 25, 2017
