DescriptionAn excerpt from Jim Thurmonds book, Granite Climbs of Missouri.
"Weathered granite mountains dot the landscape. Clear, cold water cuts through the bedrock. Tall pines and the occasional cactus grow through the thin soil. This description could be taken from a guidebook to the Rocky Mountains. However, these are the St. Francois Mountains of the Ozark Plateau."
Here is a small taste of what Eastern Missouri has to offer!!!
From St. Louis, take Highway 55 south to Highway 67 south (exit 174B toward Bonne Terre/Farmington). Highway 67 will take you through Farmington and then to Fredricktown. At Fredricktown, take the exit for Highway 72. Go west on 72. After 4 miles, turn south on Highway D. 2.9 miles of twisty road will take you to the Silver Mines.
