DescriptionOk guys I'm really excited about this one, not because it's the best climbs in the world or anything like that but mainly because of the rarity of good rock in Door County. The climbs are super easy to get to and right off a beautiful trail that runs along Lake Michigan. That is used pretty rarely. I've been looking for some good rock in DC ever since I got into the sport mainly because my family has a lake house near by and we visit year round. I checked most of the obvious places and talk to a lot of people that used to repel in the area. Most of them explained that the rock was crumbling and falling apart, which was found to be very true. Until I found this over hanging gem. Which makes me believe there's possibly some good rock hiding out. The area that I found most suitable was over grown and definitely needed to be cleared out, so we did. The rock needed a rub down and the routes I chose were but there are many holds still needing some attention. The tree canopy and breeze from the lake make this spot a perfect temperature even mid day in the summer plus if u do find yourself to be stinkin' you can alway jump in the lake!
BEEEER!!!!: definitely stop by door county brewery (polka porter and bare bottom pale ale are my favs) and don't worry they sell growlers and six packs for the cheap for the trail!!! (:
FOOD: bailey's Harbor has many great spots for food one of my favorites is the DC deli they make a mean grilled cheese.
PROTECTION: bring a pad and some off the skeeters were not bad at all and neither were the ticks the whole time I cleared out the landing I didn't get one on me (:
- *******AS ALWAYS PRACTICE LEAVE NO TRACE OR GTFO
Getting ThereThe best way to get there from the south is 57 and make right on 1st lane then about half way down 1st lane u will find a trail head with a cut down tree about 15ft in blocking any vehicle use but u can easily get threw with a pad on ur back. The trail is wide and well maintained. You take this trail in untill the first fork make a right and head down until you see a small wooded sign on your left that says lake trail. The lake trail is single track and will take u directly to the boulders which will be on your left side. Overall it's about a 15-20 minutes at my pace the first over hang u notice is the one I cleaned off and made a nice walk up/landing about 50-75 feet off the trail.
Park on first lane.
