Description

Mt. Pacifico is one of a handful of popular climbing areas within the Angeles National Forest and the San Gabriel Mountains. Pacifico offers climbs suitable for leading, top-roping, and bouldering for climbers of all levels of experience.

Getting There

From the intersection of I-210 and Angeles Crest Highway in La Canada, drive north for twenty-five miles, past Newcomb's Ranch, to a left turn onto Santa Clara Divide Road (as for Horse Flats). Continue for 4.2 miles to a locked gate. Hike or bicycle the dirt road to the Pacifico Campground.

The main climbing area is not at the summit campground but located West along the ridge before the final climb to the campground area. 4 wheel drive used to be required or a short hike even with the gate to the summit opened. The coordinates are 34°23'07.5"N 118°02'53.0"W. It is a small crag with a handful of undeveloped climbs in the 50-70 Ft. range from 5.5-5.10. The summit and surrounding area has a little bouldering but nothing like HorseFlats down the road. May 15, 2017

The road to Pacifico Campground is open from the Mill Creek/Angeles Forest Hwy side. Went up today to take the dog for a hike. You can park in a pull out near where the PCT comes close to the road and hike in less than half a mile to the main crag. Lots of newer routes since the last time I climbed there. Oct 31, 2018

4WD not needed but high clearance and a INTELLIGENT driver is. Dont speed, enjoy the view and make sure everyone gets there and leaves in one piece. 7 days ago
