Description
Getting There
From the north, post flood (Per Solomon Reinman's comment below): Follow Hwy 89 south from Livingston. Take a right onto Old Yellowstone Road a few miles before the Campground, while still on the west side of the Yellowstone River. If you cross a bridge to the east side, you've gone too far and will have to turn around. After turning onto Old Yellowstone Road, continue to the fork. When the road tees, turn left. Make another left shortly after, and then stay left again (lower road, Old Yellowstone Trail). Follow this until the road closure and find a pace to park. From here, you'll have to walk about 1.3 miles down the road, as it is closed due to washout and rockfall. Alternately, follow the southern approach to drive all the way to the parking.
From the south: Follow Hwy 89 north from Gardiner. Turn left on E Gate Road in the burg of Corwin Springs. Cross the river, then turn right to head north on Old Yellowstone Trail. Follow this for awhile until reaching the Sphinx Creek Picnic and parking area on the left, shortly before the road closure begins.
