Access Issue: Keeping climbs open depends on maintaining good relationships with locals and monks Details

Description

As the name implies, this wall is for training people how to rock climb. There are two short (3 bolts) sport routes that are very easy. If you are a beginner, or want to learn how to lead, clean, rappel, etc. this is a good wall for you.

Getting There

Take the stairs across the road from the monastery. At the top of the stairs head right around and past a small pagoda or two. Training wall is just past the last small pagoda.
For Fire Wall, Monk's Life Wall, and Steve Wall, continue up the road. For Training Wall, go up the stairs across from the monastery.

When you access the Training Wall, please be sure to take off your shoes while crossing or standing on the Pagoda. This applies to all Pagodas and Temples in Myanmar. The MackDown was named in honor of Pat Mackin, who was in a severe car accident early in 2014, and was a climbing teacher and colleague. Saya Otama was the abbot of the monastery across the road. He passed away in 2014, a great friend to climbers, and in particular to Tyler Hoffart. Jun 24, 2015
