Starbag Boulder

Massachusetts > Eastern, MA > Hammond Pond > Temple Area

Description

Starbag Boulder is a single puddingstone boulder about 50 feet away from the Temple Overhangs. The bottom half is overhanging, and the top half flattens out to a good lip.

In Spring 2015, a group of rock gym staff went out to Hammond Pond for some bouldering. One of them remarked that the climbs at the area seem to receive fewer stars than they deserved. "They're not sandbagged," he said, "they're starbagged." About a week later, this boulder was rediscovered, and the name stuck.
