Description
Most of Providence Canyon contains crumbly, chossy rock that only Mother Nature could love. There are however a few crags that are worth a visit. In the winter there are ice climbs that form regularly near the old limestone quarry that is about 2.5 miles up the canyon.
Getting There
Near the city of Providence. Find 100 E. in Providence and follow it south until it curves left (east) and turns into Providence Canyon Road. Continue until you reach the mouth of the canyon.
The lower portion of the canyon generally has a well maintained gravel road up until the large parking lot (about 1 mile up), from there the road can become rough from all the UTV traffic. Conditions in winter allow for 4WD vehicles to enter the canyon up to the large parking lot where access is by snowmobile, skis, or snowshoe to the Ice climbing area.
