Description

A wide assortment of sport and trad routes can be found here. Some of the easier routes starts were under water when I visited, so if you're not a solid 5.10 climber this may not be your area as there are only a handful of "easy" routes which tend to be very popular.
As with all climbing areas close to the ocean the hardware corrodes quickly here. Some of the bolts are in dire need of replacement. Make sure you visually inspect the bolts carefully before embarking on any route.

Getting There

After crossing the suspension bridge while headed towards the small village of Mukaicho (where the fishing boats are docked and the scuba diving school is located) Sunrise area will be the last area you come to before stepping back into civilization. The climbers path is blocked by a fence, hop the fence and scramble down the hillside about 20' where you will come upon a very substantial rappel anchor. Lower off about 50' to the big ledge from there follow the climbers trail down to the very rocky beach. Sunrise Area will be the cliffs to your right as you are facing the ocean.
