Description

The crags at this lower elevation area are arid and sunny. Approaches range from about 5-25 minutes, depending on which cliff you go to. The area is generally covered in The Mexican Rock Climbing Guide Center-South (March 2013) pages 258-265.

Getting There

El Arenal ("The Sand") is located a few kilometers from the city of Actopan in the state of Hidalgo and roughly 35 kilometers from the larger city of Pachuca. The cliffs are clearly visible from Mexico 130 on the northeast side of the road. The parking areas for most of the cliffs are easily accessible with a sedan.
