The salad bar is a prominent, pyramid shaped formation that sits right on the river. It is roughly central on the south face of Vaso Island. Atop the crag is the slightest of a ledge and a fixed anchor. At the base of the Salad Bar is a large, flat crag that sits exposed when Little Falls Pump Station is at 3.5ft or lower. The crag is south facing. the front side hosts many easy routes, and is an excellent place for people that want to climb 5.7 or easier. The back side is an entirely different story.

Go to Carderock (Aka, C&O National Rec. area). Park at the climber's lot. Hike the canal trail going west. At the stone wall, drop down into the trees and cross the river. Bushwack across the island to its south side.
