Sigispamba Sport Crag

This small(30m high x 100m wide) shady basalt crag is likely the most popular in the Quito region with its easy access and generally good weather. There are only 25 routes here so it would be easy for this crag to be crowded. Luckily the locals are muy amable and it's pretty easy to share the limited routes.

Directions and route topo can be found starting on Pg. 8 of the Monodedo website here.

Getting There

East of Cumbaya is this basalt crag. One hour drive from Quito downtown and two minute walk from the car to a flat base with meadow, stream, and great play area for the kiddos.

Really fun crag with plenty of worthwhile routes up to 5.12++. Worth a visit if you are in or around Quito. Decent rock quality and really fun pumpy movement. Be prepared to pay the land owner for day-use per person. There is a toilet off the trail between the parking and the crag, bring your own paper. Jun 9, 2016

Hello,
Does anyone have information about local climbers that I may have. I'm planning to go to Quito in middle of August.
Thank you.

Fabrizzio

I'll check monodedo in the mean time. Jul 28, 2017

Hola Panas!! James here, currently residing in Ecuador until 2020 in a small town outside of Cuenca. Give me a shout on WhatsApp to climb (+593968876613 / 0968876613)... or email (jboothdoc@gmail.com)

Interested in cragging (I live right next to cojitambo!) or any volcano climbing that's not glaciated (didn't bring the gear) ... or if you're in Cuenca and want to climb indoors drop me a line for that too! I can likely travel to most any destination in Ecuador to meet up.

For cragging i've got all my personal gear down here, just no rope, draws, or pro Mar 27, 2018
