Cima Piccola

International > Europe > Italy > Dolomites > Tre Cime di Lavaredo…

Description

When viewing the Tre Cime group from the south side, the south side of Cima Piccola is the prominent arete near the center of the group - to the right (east) of Cima Ovest and Cima Grande and to the left of Punta Frida and Cima Piccolissima. It boasts a number of lines on the south side - SW face normal route, South Face (Egger) and the ultra-classic South Arete (Spigolo Giallo or yellow edge). The north side of this mountain is less prominent lost in the stunning grandeur of Cima Grande. The North side does have at least on classic though less popular route - Helversen route - put up in 1890.

Getting There

The approach is obvious from the parking lot at the Rifugio Auronzo hut.
Go right/straight along the large path/road below the south faces of the Tre Cime group hiking towards the Rifugio Lavaredo until below the obvious center spire (right of Cima Grande and left of Punta Frida). Hike up the climbers trail through the talus/scree to the mountain.
